Common Ground High School is looking for a Part Time After-School Recreations Programmer.
Founded in 1997, Common Ground High School, is the nation’s oldest environmental charter high school. We use our unique 20-acre campus as a laboratory to provide challenging, relevant learning experiences that develop academic excellence and prepare our students for college. With only 215 students, Common Ground is able to challenge and support each individual as they attain the knowledge and skills they need to be engaged citizens, powerful environmental leaders, and successful college graduates. Over 95% of Common Ground students go on to college, bringing with them the unique perspective that comes from the mix of real world experience, small school support, environmental awareness, learning through leadership and consistently high academic expectations provided by Common Ground High School.
Common Ground offers a wide variety of high quality after school academic opportunities for its students on a daily basis, including, intensive academic supports, social emotional development, and wellness programs. After-School Programmers are responsible for overseeing all supplemental after-school programs to ensure our students are engaged in their community, build sportsmanship, and develop relationships to their peers and school. Programmers promote and provide opportunity for students to participate in healthy activities that are enriching and stimulating.
Responsibilities of the After-School Programmer includes:
Provide all students with high quality after-school programs that promote exploration, wellness, and leadership.
- Coordinate after-school programs which develop community, good sportsmanship, and health and wellness.
- Coordinate recreational activities to include strategy games and other opportunities based on student interest.
- Provide additional program based on student input and the direction of the Student Affairs Manager.
- With support of the Health & Wellness Committee, provide programs after school for students and their families.
Provide program support for after-school science and arts programs.
- Assist the Student Affairs Manager with the planning, coordinating, and facilitating of contracted after school programs to include art and science programs.
Additional responsibilities:
- Assist with bus stop duty as needed by the Student Affairs Manager.
- Provide support to the Director of School, and Assistant Director as needed.
- After-School Programmer will be responsible for providing Student Affairs Manager with monthly calendar and program goals by the 15th of the month prior. After-School Programmer will be responsible for providing Student Affairs Manager with program reflections on the last day of the month when program was delivered
- Must have students complete surveys about the program
- Must be flexible
The After-School Programmer reports to the Student Affairs Manager
Qualifications
- Experience developing enriching and healthy programs for youth.
- Experience working with youth.
- Valid CT Driver’s License and Endorsement A for CG bus. (Can be obtained up to 3 months after hire)
Compensation.
This is a part time position, 13 hour per week. Hourly wage commensurate with experience.
