Aurora Coon – Manager, Development & Communications

At age two, Aurora’s best friend was a Barred Rock chicken named Julia. They would wander her parents’ yard in Vermont together looking for plants and insects. A few decades later, not much has changed – Aurora still loves to explore the great outdoors admiring living things, from plants to insects to birds! It’s no surprise that Aurora ended up at Common Ground, where people of all ages and identities have the opportunity to connect with chickens, their environment and their community.

Aurora joined the Common Ground community in March 2022. She brings over a decade of experience working towards social and environmental justice in diverse communities in Vermont, New Hampshire and Philadelphia. Her past roles have included being a farming apprentice, a classroom teacher, a nutrition educator, and a community schools site director. She majored in Environmental Studies at Dartmouth College as well as completing the Teacher Education Program, and also earned her Master’s in Public Administration from the University of Pennsylvania. She’s thrilled to be working on the Development & Communications team to share and sustain Common Ground’s incredible and important work!
