News and Updates

Our Daily Schedule

Common Ground’s school day begins at 8:00 AM each day and ends at 3:05 AM, except on Wednesdays, when students are dismissed at 12:40 PM.

Five classes meet each day, except on Wednesdays, on a rotating schedule.

All classes are 67 minutes in length and meet three times each week.

Lunch and guidance periods are 33 minutes.

School Year Calendar

Our school year is based on a semester system.  Most core academic classes last the entire school year, with some electives and internships running for one semester. This allows for a greater variety of classes, and for students to get a fresh start two times each year, while also providing continuity in core subjects like English, Math, Science, Social Studies, and Foreign Language.

When the weather is inclement, Common Ground generally follows New Haven Public Schools’ delay and cancellation schedule. Weather updates will be posted on our website, social media, and WTNH news, and will be sent out via SMS.

From our Health Office

Common Ground is committed to the health and safety of our students, and are here to answer questions! For all questions related to medical forms, student allergies and medications, please reach out to our school nurse:

Common Health Forms and Information:

Families, it’s critical to submit updated physical health forms for our students.  Please complete and submit these forms promptly.  Not only do these forms serve as crucial documentation for student health, but they also ensure that the school is aware of any allergies or medications needed by our students.

All students, new returning or transfer, must have a Physicians Standing Order for Administration of OTC Medication form signed and returned in order for me to administer an OTC for headache, nausea, rash/allergies or pain.

Please fax all completed documents to Nurse Dana Perry at 203-387-1081.

Need another form but don’t see it? Check the State of CT School Nursing Documents/Forms Website.
