Farm Share
Common Ground Farm Share F.A.Q.
WHAT is the FARM SHARE?
Each week you’ll get a bag of in season veggies (like kale, peppers, tomatoes, lettuce, tomatillos, cabbage and more) from the Common Ground Farm!
We are able to grow fresh, local, organically grown food for you while training people from our community and CG High School. You can support our farm and our farm’s future!
How MANY WEEKS is the FARM SHARE?
Share is for 14 weeks beginning the last week of June.
HOW MUCH is a SUMMER SHARE?
Check out CG FARM STORE for current pricing!
The cost includes the farm food itself, as well as an admin & distribution fee, which helps with packing materials, pick up coordination and staffing — which are all expenses that are beyond the actual production costs of growing the food.
We do have Pay What You Can and Payment Plan options.
HOW do I Sign Up?
Go to the CG FARM STORE.
PAY IN FULL HERE: Visit the CG FARM STORE and select “Pay In Full” at Check out.
PAYMENT PLAN (Weekly, Monthly Payments): Visit the CG FARM STORE and select “Payment Plan/Pay What you Can” at Check out. We will follow up.
OTHER OPTIONS: If you want to pay with a check, SNAP or cash, visit the CG FARM STORE and select “Pay with check, SNAP or Cash” at Check out. We will follow up.
WHAT if it’s TOO MUCH FOOD?!
We have a small farm stand with more limited options in the month of July, in addition to our Mobile Market Stops conveniently located around New Haven July-November if that is a better fit.
WHAT ARE THE PICK UP DETAILS?
Thursdays 3:00-5:00pm for 14 Weeks
Location: Pick up at at Common Ground 358 Springside Ave, New Haven CT
If you aren’t able to pick up, you must let us know when you are coming so we can make sure your share is cool and as fresh as possible.
On Monday, shares will be donated to CG interns or composted.
We are not able to refund shares if they are not picked up.
We’ll send a reminder email with detailed information the week of your first pick up, and a weekly newsletter with stories, updates and recipes from the field and community.
DO I have to get a share EVERY WEEK?
YES! When you sign up for a FARM SHARE, you are committing to support our farm for the WHOLE SEASON. If you can’t pick up your share, see if you have a friend, neighbor or colleague who might want it. We can also connect you to someone on the waitlist.
CAN I order Extras like the FLOWER or FRUIT SHARE without getting a veggie share?
YES! We will send you the link and you can order right from our store.
I have more QUESTIONS!
Email farm@nhep.com if you ever have questions or comments.
***Community Agreement: By purchasing this share and becoming a Common Ground Farm Share member, I understand I am a supporter for the season I have signed up for. The CG farmers promise to provide me with nutritious, sustainably-grown produce and I understand there are risks in agriculture that can affect the growth of what is offered. I am encouraged to join in beyond picking up my farm share: volunteering time/skills, attending workshops / community gatherings (TBD). As a stakeholder in the farm, I recognize my role in the long-term viability of the Farm, CG youth and adult farm based training programs, and CG community food access work.
This Farm Share offers EXTRAS:
A CG FLOWER SHARE featuring a fresh, seasonal bouquet every week grown and arranged by our farm team. These are larger than our farm stand bouquets.
A CG EGG SHARE (MONTHLY) is a share of CG eggs.
A CORN SHARE features the freshest sweet corn from our friends at the family owned Merry Mountain Farm in Woodbridge, CT.
A FRUIT SHARE You will receive a seasonal fruit item from a local CT Farm. In Early Summer you’ll see berries, in Summer, peaches and melon, in the Fall, apples, cider and more! Local farms may include Hindingers Farm, Blue Hill Orchard and High Hill Orchard. Fruit Shares are locally sourced but not necessarily organic.
COMPOST! It’s our goal to get every one of our farm share members in 2024 to compost their vegetable, fruit, coffee, egg and flower waste to support our farm and the environment! If you drop off your food waste at Common Ground or are thinking about it, please take a few minutes to complete this survey.
While we won’t be offering FLOUR through the Farm Share this year, you can contact Lani directly if you’d like more info. FLOUR from Ground Up Grain is a flour mill located in Holyoke, MA. 100% of our grains are Non-GMO and we offer both organic and conventionally grown flours from family farms in our region. They have LOTS of types of flour available as well as bigger sizes.
